SUBU × BEAMS Celebrate 10 Years, 50 Years, and Three Months of Winter Sandals

Two milestones, three releases, and a shared history stretching back to the beginning of one of
Japan’s most recognizable cold-weather footwear concepts.

In 2026, SUBU celebrates its 10th anniversary, while BEAMS marks 50 years. To commemorate both occasions, the longtime collaborators are launching a special three-part collection, with a new release arriving each month from September through November.

Since introducing its now-signature concept of the “winter sandal,” SUBU has turned the humble slip-on into a fixture of Japanese cold-weather culture. Comfortable enough for home and camp, but increasingly embraced as an everyday piece of footwear, SUBU occupies an unusual space between outdoor utility, streetwear, and pure convenience. BEAMS has been part of that story since the brand’s early days, making the dual anniversary a fitting excuse to revisit—and push forward—some of their collaborative ideas.

The celebrations begin in September with the return of the popular animal-pattern series. This time, rugged cotton duck uppers are intentionally distressed to give the sandals the character of something already well worn.

Familiar Leopard is joined by new Python and Tiger patterns, adding a little more bite to SUBU’s famously relaxed silhouette.

Things get warmer in October with the Fake Mouton model. Drawing from classic shearling jackets, the sandal combines a cracked, aged-looking upper with faux fur spilling from the opening. Offered in Black and Brown, it brings together the rugged appearance of vintage outerwear with the comfort-first attitude that made SUBU what it is.

Then comes November. For the final chapter, SUBU and BEAMS are teasing what they describe as an unprecedented flagship special edition—one unlike anything the two have released together before.

For now, they’re keeping the details secret, with the reveal coming through BEAMS later in the year.

Across all three drops, SUBU’s uncomplicated approach to comfort meets the considered detailing of bPr BEAMS, celebrating two very different anniversaries through a partnership that has grown alongside the winter sandal itself.
