Back in 2011, native New Yorker Joe DiNoto was working as a bartender on the Lower East Side. About this same time he founded the Orchard Street Runners, an organization known for unsanctioned running and route-less competitive street races around New York City and abroad.
Photographer Brenden Clarke recently published an in-depth look at one of these races, the 2019 Midnight Half. We’re blown away by these intimate portraits of runners, spectators, and found objects that tell the story of these athletes who bring new meaning to the idea of cutting corners.
