HUNT Bike Wheels Introduces H_Cyclo Technology

H_Cyclo is a new technology that allows for the full recycling of thermoset carbon fiber materials used in high-performance bicycle wheels. It maintains the strength and performance of traditional carbon fiber while enabling the separation and reuse of both carbon and epoxy resin. This is a vital part of HUNT’s broader sustainability efforts in the cycling industry.

The UK-based brand implemented this new technology in one of the most popular gravel wheelsets, the 40 Carbon Gravel Race, and are also introducing a SON dynamo-equipped 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo for riders looking to lighten up their adventure setups while adding charging and light-powering capabilities.

H_Cyclo allows “recycling of carbon fiber and resin in bike wheels,” the brand says, using the “thermoset” process, which gives the best strength-to-weight ratio for bike parts currently available. “While this may change as technology advances, right now thermoset leads in performance for bicycle rims and frames.”

HUNT Wheels features a broad set of company-wide sustainability efforts, focused on longevity, emissions, repairability, innovation, and re-use. The HUNT RE:NEW program launched in 2022 to allow riders to purchase lightly used wheels online, and the aftermarket brand maintains spare parts for all HUNT wheelsets dating back to 2015. They also tout a commitment to spare components and service for all in-line and previously sold HUNT wheels to the company’s founding in 2015.
