Outdoor Media Summit is changing how brands and media connect over gear. On the first day of Outdoor Media Summit, invited brands will have the opportunity to participate in the New Gear Speed Date, a unique format of product showcase.
25 brands and their PR teams will have the opportunity to pitch dozens of the outdoor industry’s most prolific gear review professionals. Brands will have 10 minutes with each member of the media, after which, the media will move on so that each brand has the chance to meet the maximum number of outlets present.
“Outdoor brands and media are hungry for a new way to connect over gear,” said Yoon Kim, founder, Outdoor Media Summit. “We’re excited to see that the biggest names in the outdoor industry are choosing OMS as their next gathering place.”
Brands will be limited to either a 10×10 or 10×20 space, and will be encouraged to limit the number of products they pitch to the journalists. Only brands with new products will be invited to participate in this event.
“To see 25 new outdoor products in one afternoon is a gear reviewer’s dream,” said Adam Ruggiero, editor in chief, Gear Junkie.
Brands will be given the media list beforehand so they can research each journalist before meeting with them. At the end of the event, each journalist will vote on their favorite products. Winners will be announced on Day 3 at Outdoor Media Awards.
“The timing of this speed date event couldn’t be more perfectly aligned with some exciting product launches we have scheduled for next year,” said Anna Rawlins, marketing director, Eagles Nest Outfitters. “To get in front of so many gear reviewers in such a short amount of time makes this a no brainer for us.”
Registered brands for New Gear Speed Date include Patagonia, NEMO Equipment, ENO, Costa Del Mar, SCARPA and more. (To request an invitation for New Gear Speed Date as a brand, email firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Registered media include the editor in chiefs of GearJunkie, Trails Magazine, Alpinist Magazine, and Trout Magazine as well as gear freelancers from Climbing Magazine, The Trek, ActionHub, Overland Journal, Elevation Outdoors and more. The OMS team anticipates that there will be 30-40 of the outdoor industry’s most powerful gear reviewers at the event. New Gear Speed Date will be limited to 25 brands. There are only 250 tickets available for Outdoor Media Summit 2023, which has sold out every year since the first show in 2015.
