We caught up with our pal Darren Cantlay of the very cool fly fishing outfit ArcticSilver USA. His expedition vehicle is the center of this week’s Overlander Spotlight. Hope you dig it as much as we do!
Who are you and what do you do by day?
I am the managing member of ArcticSilver USA and part time investor as well as a recovering Bank CFO. ArcticSilver USA imports an innovative new fly rod and fly lines. We launched in the USA in Jan 2020 just as the pandemic hit.
Tell us a bit about your rig…
This is a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Launch Edition that I was building for a customer (I use to build/customize jeeps for a living and currently own four) and they backed out so I decided to turn it into the ArcticSilver Expedition Vehicle.
What are your favorite mods or features?
The EVO bed rack is awesome for hauling around my Flycraft Raft and my RiverSmith River Quiver. It helps get my gear to the remote river spots and with the other modifications to the Jeep, I don’t have to worry about getting stuck.
What’s been your favorite trip with your rig so far?
The rig was in storage for a year and I just started using it. My son and I are currently on a cross country trip to fish the St. Joe in Idaho, Green River in Wyoming, as well as several other rivers and streams we find along the way.
Where to next? What’s your dream expedition?
The dream expedition would start in Moab, UT camping and riding, head up through Colorado, then on to Alaska to finish off with salmon fishing.
