On the heels of an initial season with the now widely acclaimed ORIGIN collection, Seven Layer is taking the next evolutionary step with the opening of its flagship store in Alderley Edge, Cheshire — close to the home of founder, entrepreneur and award-winning engineer, Jamie Lundy.
“I wanted our first step into a retail space to be local and more focussed,” Lundy said. “We are an all-inclusive brand continually pioneering new ways of successfully fusing fashion with function. Our new retail space give us the opportunity to cultivate relationships and build a real brand organically.”
Lundy holds the titles Owner, CEO, Creative Director, Co-Designer and also Brand Photographer at Seven Layer, but understands you need a great team and supply chain to be successful. He says: “As the saying goes, if you’re the cleverest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room!” He refers to his Chief Designer Chris Vandrill as his “right hand man” and “a genius” at what he does. “Chris has really made my vision a reality and since joining the brand 18 months ago made a huge impact leaning and supporting each other in all the creative aspects of what we do.”
Launching this Monday, 12 April, 2021 is the brand new SS21 MTP System.
“MTP has been inspired by the New British Forces Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) Camouflage, a design delivered to work across a mixed landscape — from woodlands to mountains through to urban settings — and the extends the tone and aesthetic that we want to set for 7L – where fashion meets functions and performance meets style,” Lundy said.
Already partnering with Japanese heavyweight store United Arrows, 7L is on the rise and is proud to hail from Cheshire: and a must visit destination for anyone gracing the pavements of Alderley Edge in the UK.
The physical address of the new concept store is: 32 London Road, Alderley Edge.
On the back of their inaugural AW20 collection, Cheshire’s Seven Layer is now widely regarded as one of the major players in crafted outerwear globally.
Maintaining a military based layering system that motivated the well-received ORIGIN offer last year, the SS21 delivery is inspired by the MTP Camouflage, boasting layers from next-to-skin to extreme weather. The 7L MTP collection is versatile and crafted to adapt to a multitude of requirements dependent on the wearer, featuring collaborations with Manchester-based English Fine Cottons (EFC), Cookson and Clegg and of course the now ever-present ArkAir based in Exeter.
Lundy says, “This is a big and exciting year for the 7L brand. The reaction to ORIGIN was amazing, it just exploded. We are set to open our flagship store in Alderley Edge in April and ready to show off the MTP collection within our beautiful new interactive environment.”
