Beginning in the early 2010’s a new wave of outdoor lifestyle brands with a nod to classic styling began to appear. You had Poler Stuff up in Oregon, Topo Designs in Colorado, and in Salt Lake City, Utah a brand called Cotopaxi came along with a flare for color blocking 80’s and 90’s neon. Today that company launches a limited edition collection with company founded in 80’s and then blew up in the 90’s, the classic adventure sandal brand Teva.
This collab started by taking Teva’s Original Universal Sandal ($70) and combining REPREVE® recycled polyester webbing with colorful straps featuring upcycled Cotopaxi Del Dia ripstop fabrics. We think this is a very cool move, making the sandal not only durable and quick drying, but environmentally-friendly as well.
Next, they tackled Cotopaxi’s packable and water-resistant Teca Half Zip Windbreaker ($90), giving it a matching co-branded colorway. We love the jacket’s large front kangaroo pocket and that it’s constructed from DWR-treated repurposed polyester taffeta. This once again speaks to a thoughtful approach to responsible design.
Together, we think this sandal and windbreaker combo is a totally fun, complementary set that certainly inspires a get-out-and-go state of mind. It’d be hard to get your hands on these and not immediately head out on an adventure of some kind.
Best of all, the Teva x Cotopaxi Collection is a celebration of their shared commitment to do better for both people and the planet with the use of remnant and recycled materials. Not to mention, they plan to donate $40K to the Cotopaxi Foundation to support a grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood to increase youth leadership education and access in the outdoors.
